The evolution of a wall

Tuesday, January 24th, 2006

Have you ever driven past a piece of graffiti and wondered about the origins? Maybe you drive by a particular space everyday and see the changes as the piece evolves? If you love graffiti (as I do) then you gotta see this site.
Graffiti Archaeology allows you to see the evolution of a wall in all it’s glorious (and not so glorious) phases. Kinda like the wayback machine for grafitti. It’s a pretty spiffy navigational concept as well, and the photoshop work that went into these is no small feat either.

Is Your Website Working? How do you Know?

Tuesday, January 17th, 2006

Do you know if your website is effectively delivering your message?
Are you sure?
Is the information displayed in the most effective way?
It happens all the time. You build your site, add a little here, delete that old bit of text, post new pictures. Somewhere along the way links get broken, code is corrupted, pages start to look a little ragged around the edges.
And that’s just in YOUR browser.
What about on other platforms or other browsers?

With the number of options available out there you can’t afford to risk a potential customers impression of you to be flawed.

So, what can you do?
Let us do a website audit.

We’ll give you a usability analysis, including visitor experience
Page load times
Font consistency, readability, size choice, color
Navigation, how many clicks to get the info?

Data on:
Search Engine Optimization
Cross Browser compatibility- checked in the top 5 Browsers

Technology analysis
Are the technologies used effectively?
Are they necessary or are there better options?
Image optimization ‘ how fast do those images load? We can make recommendations to adjust load times.

Check internal AND external links for errors
A comprehensive report that shows all broken links and their corresponding pages.

Link Check – find dead or broken links
Remote Links – find links external to your site
HTML Check – spot HTML errors and let you know which ones are essential to fix NOW

Server analysis
We’ll look at your server and analyze its history of downtime
We’ll ping it and see what its response time is

C’mon, what have you got to lose?
Click on ‘Is Your Website Working?’ on the home page, or send me an e-mail and ask about a website audit. It’ll be time well spent.

Googled to pieces

Mac users can get left out when it comes to software, but Google realizes that most of the truly cool, hip designer types have Macs, so they’ve come out with Google Earth for Mac. Hey we’re 16% of the market now, depending on who you talk to.
‘Bout time guys, better late than never.

Now we can use our PC testing machines for testing sites and view the glories of the world on a 21 inch Mac display. Muuch better.

If you haven’t already spent countless wasteful hours surfing the Grand Canyon with your cursor, searching for your old homestead, or viewing the shadow of the Eiffel tower across the Seine, well, you gotta see it.

Oh and while you’re at it you might take a look at the realtime 3-d view of Air traffic landing at your favorite airport.. Scary but cool.
