Community is what we do for fun!

Friday, June 16th, 2006

One thing we geeks at Tatu love to do is create community online. After all, what’s the web? It’s the community of the world, and we love to find new ways to bring people together both on and off-line.
We started off with Ontherail.com of course, then we were active in San Francisco Women on the Web, but we’ve been founders and supporters of several other noteworthy communities along the way.

The latest introduction is BestofWillowGlen.com.
Willow Glen is a suburb of San Jose, Ca with a history and heart that keeps it’s neighborhood charm alive and flourishing. Where people actually know their neighbors and gather in a variety of ways as a community. Whether at the little league game, at the dog-parks, Dancin’ in the streets, the farmer’s market or the local coffee shops and restaurants, the people of Willow Glen are proud of where they live and the community they’ve worked hard to keep.

The BestofWillowGlen site will feature local businesses of course, but it’s really meant as a rallying place for the residents to talk about local issues, community politics and support each other with referrals for services and neighborly discussion.

Slated to be featured will be movie reviews from movie maven Susan Bruno, Landscaping tips for sustainable planting, recipes from local chefs, pet care tips from a local pet care specialist, and the site will be a hub for the Willow Glen Co-op Initiative, bringing quality foods to the community through a locally owned and managed buying co-op.

We’re pleased to launch this site, and hope that it truly gives back to an off-line community that we have grown to love.

Is it safe to work next to you?

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

Are you working safely at work? In your home? Did you know that in California and many other states it’s a law that you train your staff in safe operating procedures? Well, we knew we should tell them not to bend their wrists at the keyboard, but there were a lot of other things we didn’t know about office safety and workstation ergonomics.

Lucky thing our latest client is a specialist in workplace safety training. Not only did we get to build some of the e-learning courses, we got to translate them into Spanish too!
Now we know how to stay away from those nasty peligros de ergonomía!

W also extensively modified a shop-site using OSC Max as the base, giving them a powerful affiliate management program, and customized reporting. Then we set them up with WordPress so they could continue to spread the word about safety in the workplace.

Take a look through the site. The CD rom courses are reasonable and will not only help keep you compliant with the safety police, you might actually have fewer accidents.

Check out the site: MyWorkplaceSafety.com and let us know what you think. Oh, and if you need a shopping cart customized and installed, send me an e-mail
fouts@tatudigital.com
. We can set you up pretty.
